The staff were attentive and friendly. All of the food was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend making a reservation as the restaurant is small. There is a small lot out front shared with other businesses. I will definitely be back.

J-shop is a magical restaurant that transforms from a grocery store into the best izakaya in Hawaii as soon as it hits 5:30 PM. Last year, I gathered a lot of information and had a wonderful experience visiting, and this year, I visited Hawaii again to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, and we went there on the very day of our anniversary. If you bring your own alcohol, the owner will provide an ice bucket, and they are extremely kind. Most importantly, the taste is outstanding—everything is more delicious than at any other restaurant. I believe J-shop is the only place in Hawaii where you can enjoy fresh Hokkaido sea urchin. If you're thinking of enjoying the best sashimi, countless delicious dishes, and a drink at the top restaurant in Hawaii, make a reservation right away. You’ll be able to end your day in the best way possible. And we were so grateful for the surprise ice cream and photo gift to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary.

It’s a grocery store but at night time it’s a BYOB izakaya. I looooooved the food here. It had a homely touch to the food that made it feel like you were at someone’s house making the food for you. Coupled with the sake we brought from Costco it was one of our most memorable meals on the island

We stumbled upon this hidden gem, and it quickly became one of the best sushi restaurants in Hawaii. During the day, it's a bustling supermarket, but once the clock strikes 5 p.m., it magically transforms into an intimate dining experience. The cozy space may be small, but it certainly makes a big impression! The sushi was exceptionally fresh, and we were particularly delighted by the crispy fried oysters and the delicate nigiri. Stepping inside felt like a journey back to Japan, with an ambiance that transported us to another world. The hospitality was genuinely warm and inviting; the staff treated us like family. As a lovely surprise for our anniversary, they even brought us a complimentary dessert, which was a sweet touch to our evening. I can’t wait to return to this incredible spot.
